Yes, because neo-Communists like yourself say, "Gosh its hot in Wagga Wagga today, must be Global Warming," or, "Gosh look at the hurricane, must be Global Warming."
And since this is ultimately a political debate and not a scientific one, the critics have to also counter the neo-Communist propaganda with equal and opposite force.

If someone can use the 2005 hurricane season and Katrina as evidence of the effects of GW, then others are free to use the 2006 hurricane season as evidence that GW has been reduced. Combining a hurricane with smoke stacks is called marketing, not science.
Seriously, we should all continue to fight against any use of short term, local or seasonal data, regardless of what "side" we agree with. It cheapens the debate and appeals to the masses but ultimately does nothing to move us forward.

I agree that neither side should use single events as evidence of GW, but I don't agree with your "two wrongs make a right" conclusion.
FWIW, An Inconvenient Truth did not use any single hurricane as evidence of GW rather it was making the scientifically supportable point that we should anticipate more such severe events as those of 2005 hurricane season if GW continues unabated.
I do think he was misleading in his use of disaater losses in the US. I think there the implication was clearly that this is tracking with warming but that is not a causal relationship it is is due to demographoics.

It occurs to me that saying "it was cold today in wagga wagga so global warming is a myth" makes as much sense as saying "inflation is a myth, because the grocery store had a sale on cheerios today".

The term 'Global Warming' itself goes misleading many times. The right term proposed is 'Global Climate Change'.
The greenhouse effect on the earth's atmosphere is not exactly creating warming situations everywhere because of the geo-technical aspect of it. It is causing some places to become warmer, others cooler, some wetter, others drier.
