Possible futures and uncovered pasts

I have a more lengthy article over on Gristmill about the GrrlScientist piece featured in my previous AFTIC post. It meanders a bit but was essentially trying to make the point that model projections are not the only source of information about possible future climate trajectories, we can use past climate behaviours too. I do not consider it likely that current human activities will lead to an extinction as severe as The Great Dying, but I also make the point that even slim odds of severe outcomes must be agressively avoided.
